Homemade Veggie and Fruit Pouches

I love the idea of my children willingly eating their food, especially vegetables without complaint.  The reality is that’s not the case.  I have found these food pouches to really help!  My boys love applesauce, so I am sure to include apples as my primary flavor.

Here’s how:  The vegetables are cooked first, fruits second and some raw fruits at the end.  Let’s get to it!

Ingredients:

1 bunch of kale, rib removed

1/2 cubed eggplant

1 C filtered water (I use a Berkey)

1-2 pounds of sliced apples

1-2 sliced pears

1 peeled mango, sliced

Blender (I use a Vitamix)

Reusable food pouches or food pouch system

Stove Top:

Place veggies and water into saucepan and cook on medium with lid on for 10-15 minutes or until veggies are soft.  Add all apples except one and pear into pan and cook on medium with lid on for 10-15 minutes or until fruits are soft.  Pour cooked veggies and fruit into blender, add last raw apple and mango and blend until pureed.   Pour puree into reusable pouches or put into containers to enjoy.  Okay to freeze and remove to thaw before use.

Pressure cooker/instant pot:

Place veggies and water into pot and cook on high (manual for IP) for 3 minutes.  Once timer sounds of, pressure release. Add all apples except one and pear into pot and cook on high (manual for IP) for 2 minutes.  Once timer sounds of, pressure release. Pour cooked veggies and fruit into blender, add last raw apple and mango and blend until pureed.   Pour puree into reusable pouches or put into containers to enjoy.  Okay to freeze and remove to thaw before use.
